Thomas Paine's pamphlet "Common Sense", published on January 10, 1776, was originally printed in the city of Philadelphia, but was soon reprinted across America and Great Britain, and translated into German and Danish. It sold 120,000 copies in the first 3 months and was read aloud all over the 13 colonies. This pamphlet united the will of the colonists for independence thus proving that indeed, often the pen is mightier than the sword.
